Home is where the heart is—no doubt about that—but sometimes people struggle to determine just where they should settle that ever important throbbing little pound of flesh. Sure, many of us dream of retiring in Spain or on a romantic beach somewhere (rustic cottage on the shore included) but for now, right now, the question of how to decide where to live remains to be answered.
If we’re being honest here, we’ll admit to choosing our residential location, in large part, because of factors like convenience. It was either close to the office or near (or far!) from family and friends. Most often, we choose where we live based on an existing job or support system. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it can sometimes leave you feeling lacking, without realizing exactly what it is you want out of where you live. Martha Beckwrites in Oprah Magazine, “People who get what they want tend to be the ones who make the effort to know what they want.” We have to agree. 1. What really matters to you?
Do you crave people and a lot of stimulation or are you more comfortable in a peaceful environment? Do you enjoy lots of art exhibits and musical events or are quiet walks in nature more your cup of tea?
