One of 154 sonnets written by playwright and poet Shakespeare, it is perhaps the best known. In it, Shakespeare compares his love to the beauty of a summer’s day and finds his love much more beautiful. Interestingly, Shakespeare never provided enough information to tell us if his lover was male or female.
