5. If you’re adrift at sea in a lifeboat, remember that drifting is your best chance of finding dry land. Your odds of staying alive are much better in the lifeboat than if you try to “swim for it.” If you can’t see land or other ships, simply allow the life boat to drift. It makes it easier for potential rescuers to find you than if you try to go off in search of rescue.
6. Find your muster station (the place to go in case of emergency on a ship). Remember that safety session you were supposed to attend? They’ll tell you where your muster station is. That’s the location on the ship where you get your life vest, emergency supplies and board your lifeboat.
