8. Independence & Responsibilities
Talk to young kids about learning to do things for themselves. Remind your child that they need to keep track of their possessions, like lunchboxes and backpacks, pay attention in class, and remember homework.
9. School Safety
With school shootings getting so much media coverage, kids may be nervous about violence in their school. Go over what to do if there is an emergency. As a parent, listen to any fears your child has about school violence, don’t minimize them but let them feed off of any anxiety you may have.
