There is something really fulfilling about having fresh plants in your home and having a gorgeous garden to call your own; it can not only be beautiful to look at, but having fresh plants can also help enhance your cooking (if you are growing vegetables or herbs) and your appreciation for nature. And the act of growing a garden is therapeutic and really good for your health. According to a recent article on CNN, gardening can reduce stress and boost your disposition. James Jiler, the founder and executive director of Urban GreenWorks, a Miami-based nonprofit that creates garden and park programs for low-income neighborhoods, argues that the sensory experience of gardening “allows people to connect to this primal state…a lot of people [understand] that experience. They may not be able to put it into words, but they understand what’s happening.”
