Safety is the major issue with shellac nails. So far the consensus is that the UV lights used in gel manicures do emit harmful rays but at such a low dose that they aren’t significantly harmful. You may want to apply sunscreen to your hands though. And more salons are opting for LED lights, which also speed drying.
