It’s no worse than alcohol: I routinely consume wine or beer, and sometimes hard liquor in front of my kids. It’s not as though I drink all time, but I don’t think twice about having a glass of wine or two at dinner, either at home or in a restaurant, with my young kids around. My kids are aware that I’m drinking an “adult beverage” that is not intended for their consumption. In this respect, I’m consuming a potentially mood- and mind-altering substance that I would not want my kids to touch. I wouldn’t get drunk in front of my kids, but I might feel the effects of two glasses of wine. So is that any different than smoking a small amount of pot in front of them and feeling its effects?
