Not exactly science fiction but definitely macabre. Geek Love is the story of the Binewski family, living on the fringe of the circus as carny folk. The father decides to breed his own troop of side show “freaks” using a combination of drugs and radiation. He produces a child with flippers for legs, a set of conjoined twins, an albino hunchback and one child who appears normal but has a mysterious gift that makes him the oddest of all. As the family crosses the county as a side show act, sibling rivalry produces plot twists. You’ll never think of people as side show freaks again once you read this book.
