Cuban-American relations haven’t exactly been great for the past 50+ years, since diplomatic ties were broken, embassies were closed, trade and travel were forbidden and the U.S. slapped Cuba with economic sanctions during the Eisenhower administration. All this changed over the past year as the U.S. worked to improve ties between the two countries and recently announced the reopening of embassies in Havana and Washington.
