4. Spending on the Kids
We all want a better life for our kids. We make sure they have clothes and dental care and sporting equipment. We save for college rather than retirement. In some cases, we agree to help put kids through school with no clear guarantee of reimbursement. Too often the degree is reached and the relationship ends. We’re out the money with nothing to show for it.
5. Giving Up Control
We let a partner take over the money. This is vital financial advice for women: trust is good, being ignorant about the use and control of your finances is foolish.
