6. Rosh Hashanah kicks off a 10-day period known as the High Holy Days
Rosh Hashanah isn’t just the celebration of the Jewish New Year. It also begins a 10-day period when Jews focus on self-examination and repenting for their wrongdoings in the past year. “This period, known as the Yamim Noraim (Days of Awe or High Holy Days), is widely observed by Jews throughout the world, many with prayer and reflection in a synagogue.” During this period, it is believed that every person has the chance to be cleansed of their sins and to set good intentions for a sweet and fulfilling year ahead.
