WHAT TO BRING BACK
The locals will tell you they don’t usually wear the stones typical of the DR—larimar or amber. But if you want to bring back something that will remind you of the beautiful beaches, a piece of larimar and silver jewelry is your best bet. I bought a pair of earrings for which I’m complimented over and over, and a pendant in the shape of a heart. If you purchase at the beaches you can barter a bit, but once you purchase from one of the vendors, the others will let you be if you tell them you’ve already bought something from a colleague.
