4. Itchy Eyes
Itchy eyes rarely appear with a cold and usually appear with an allergy. Allergies cause watery, itchy eyes because they trigger an immune response in the mucous membranes in your eyes to “defend” against the allergen. This can also cause a runny nose and congestion. Over-the-counter allergy medications, such as eye drops, can help.
