2. Digital Luggage Tags
British Airways has begun testing on a Digital Bag Tag that will work with their Smartphone app. Air France is planning to launch their e-Tag and e-Track services this year—customers will be able to check their own bags and use a tracking device in their luggage to trace them. Both airline systems are similar in design. Using a Smartphone app, passengers update their e-tag with current flight info and check the bag curbside. Using the app, they track the luggage from loading to pick up. The battery operated device is good for five years or so, and eliminates the need for a new paper tag each trip.
