  1. You may never sleep well again.
It’s no secret that a newborn baby is up every two hours, interrupting your sleep and giving you dark under-eye circles that cannot be hidden. But did you know that you might have trouble sleeping long before you give birth? Many women (75%!) experience pregnancy insomnia. What causes it? A combination of “hormonal changes, frequent trips to the bathroom, heartburn during pregnancy that just won’t quit, leg cramps, the fact that you can’t get comfortable” can make it impossible to get a good night’s sleep, says the iconic pregnancy resource, What to Expect. Think of it this way, your body is being trained to function on little-to-no sleep, so when the baby does arrive, you’re ready.
  1. You will leak, and by leak, we mean pee.
If you thought that only toddlers and old people pee in their pants, you were wrong. Pregnant women do it, too. We’re not saying you should wear adult diapers, but don’t be shocked if you lose some control over your bladder as your baby takes up more space in your belly. Unintentional leaking can happen when you sneeze, cough, laugh or stand up too quickly, mostly because hormones are causing your pelvic muscles to relax and because your bladder has less room to store urine. It’s totally normal, but still mortifying.
