If you’re Colombian, or love someone who is, you’re probably already fully aware of all the great things this South American gem has to offer. It not only has the finest offerings of coffee and emeralds in the world, but also some of the sassiest, smartest, and sexist people you’ll ever meet (think Shakira, Gabriel García Márquez and Sofia Vergara). Shakira’s Colombian pride shone through when, in an early interview, she said to the English- speaking press: “I am trying to make my accent so it won’t bother anyone, but I am not going to drive myself crazy trying to pretend I am an American girl when I am from Colombia.”
