16. Harper Lee • April 28
Novelist Harper Lee has only published one book, but what a book! To Kill a Mockingbird won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1961 and it’s a literary classic that helped change our views on race and the criminal justice system. Unfortunately it’s still a little too relevant today. Now, over 60 years later, Lee’s second book Go Set a Watchman is due out July 14.
