6. Christmas Trees
Between 2007 and 2011, Christmas trees were the origin of an average of 230 fires each year. One of the best holiday fire safety tips we can impart is to buy a fresh tree and keep it well watered. As soon as you get it home, cut off the last two inches of the trunk and put it in water. Be sure to check the water level daily.
