SpongeBob Squarepants teaching kids wha-at? That’s exactly what I thought a few years ago, when I took my then three-year old to watch a SpongeBob movie at the theater. Not only did the sponge have a squeaky nasal nasty voice, but it belched and farted. Exactly what I didn’t want my kids to do! Of course they would never watch the show. Ever. Fast forward two or three years and not only were both my young daughters avid viewers, they also had character sheets, towels, room decor, you name it. How did that happen? Well, after listening to other moms and the occasional dad mention some redeeming qualities about the series, I decided to sit down and give it another chance. This was the result:
