While there are now generally nursing assistants, nursing students and various technicians to help nurses out, it is still true that nurses frequently have to do the messy stuff: change your bedpan, clean up blood, and otherwise see to your comfort.
4. Nurses administer medication. Your doctor will order your medication from the hospital pharmacy but it is your nurse who will administer it.
