I know how blessed I am these days. I have a job. I also know that my heartache doesn’t even approach the countless military families who endure separation when a parent is deployed into a war zone. I also know that for nonmilitary families, my situation grows less unique. Thousands of families are being temporarily split apart as we plot through our new economic reality.
None of that knowledge alleviates the ache. I still miss my family.
