The hamburger as we know it arose from a changing society that had less time to prepare food and less time to eat it. Both ground meat patties and bread were a staple long before they were slapped together and served to a diner on the run. Today the hamburger is as popular as ever. Even the fashionably fit indulge. Matthew McConaughey, he of chiseled chest and flat stomach has been quoted as saying “Man who invented the hamburger was smart; man who invented the cheeseburger was a genius.”
