Nine people a day die from asthma in the U.S. every day, with black Americans being 2 to 3 times more likely to die than any other racial or ethnic group, according to this infographic from the National Asthma Control Program and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. One in 11 children and 1 in 12 adults suffer from this disease. Asthma treatment is expensive, resulting 1 in 4 blacks and 1 in 5 Latinos unable to afford their asthma medication.
