It used to be that women gave birth in their 20s and 30s and by the time they approached 50, they could look forward to bouncing grandbabies on their knee. Those days are gone. With advances in fertility procedures, any woman with a uterus can carry a child and give birth regardless of age. Fueled in part by the youth-crazed culture, and in part because women are waiting longer and longer to get married (or not) and have children, it’s now not unusual to see “gran-moms” well into their 50s pushing strollers and arranging play dates.
