6 FEATURES ONLINE MAMIS WILL LOVE
- Smaller than a smartphone. The camera is smaller than my iPhone 4S. Not slimmer, mind you, but it is smaller overall and lightweight.
- Built-in instructions. Although pretty easy to figure out by playing around with it, the built-in instruction manual is great. It’s very handy when you want to take advantage of the full range of possibilities.
- Waterproof, dustproof and shockproof. Oh, if only my smartphone were all these things without having to resort to an expensive protective case! Dropped it? Check! Splashed it? Check! Fell in the sand? Check! And it still works fine. The camera, I mean. The smartphone has a cracked screen.
- Great picture quality. Although for fast social media posting I’m happy with my iPhone 4S, cracked screen and all, I love that this camera has double the resolution at 16.2 MP.

- Soft skin feature. This was in fact, the feature that attracted me to the camera in the first place. Check out the self-portrait attached to this review! It was taken with the soft skin feature at medium setting. No further editing was done to the shot. When I posted that picture online I got lots of compliments about my skin. Do I care that it’s not really that perfect? You bet! But the difference is not that huge that people will laugh at my vanity when they meet me in real life and see my fine lines and wrinkles up close. Or so I hope! Besides I can always use a lower soft-skin setting. However, if you work online, have a limited budget and need flattering headshots, this setting is a must-have!
- Creative settings. From color boost to color drop and fading out the background, to panoramic or 3D pictures, you have a variety of settings to choose from. Not to mention high quality video, action photos and a great zoom capacity. When in doubt, you can always use the intelligent auto setting. Instead of editing the photo after you shoot it, the filters kick in right after you press the shutter button.
DRAWBACKS
If I were pressed to state a drawback it would be that you can’t post shots directly from your camera to social media but then, on second thought, maybe that’s an advantage!
