5. Malta
If you long for a European destination, consider this tiny country just south of Sicily. A cluster of islands, Malta has mild temperatures during the winter. You won’t find crowds, but you will find an abundance of outdoor recreation, breathtaking scuba diving and quiet sidewalk cafes.
6. Cyprus
Farther south than Malta, Cyprus is a bit warmer and the Mediterranean is warm enough for swimming year round. Hiking, boating and enjoying fresh island seafood should be high on your adventurer’s list.
