Contrary to the urban legend of an Otto Titzling having created the first brassiere on May 30, 1889, the bra was really invented by 19th-century French feminist Herminie Cadolle. Over the years, the construction, fabric and features have evolved quite a bit but the function remains consistent: lift and support the girls while making us girls look great.
