Wales is ridiculously good at this. The whole country has a special “don’t mess with our darkness” vibe. Snowdonia has the Llyn Peninsula, which is so dark that local sheep have better night vision than your phone camera.

Or try the Brecon Beacons. Specifically, head to the car park at the top of the A470 near Storey Arms. It’s a government-owned dark sky site. Imagine that—the government doing something that’s actually useful. You just park, look up, and suddenly you’re gaping at a river of cosmic dust that’s been flying for 100,000 years. It’s better than Netflix.
Fun fact: The Milky Way is 100,000 light-years across. If you tried to drive across it at 70mph, you’d die of old age before you finished the journey. Actually, you’d die of boredom first. It’s a long drive.
