George Lazenby plays Bond like a swaggering goof, and the ending is a gut-punch. It doesn’t “fit” with the others, and that’s exactly why it’s a masterpiece of melancholy. It’s the black sheep you can’t help but love.
Then we have the absolute chaos entries: Moonraker (Bond in space! With a laser gun! On a space station!). It’s ridiculous, scientifically impossible, and totally charming. Sometimes the best Bond film is the one that makes you laugh at its sheer audacity. It’s a guilty pleasure that’s aged into a cult classic.
