Flying is safe because it’s insanely regulated. Every bolt, every procedure, every pilot’s coffee intake is monitored. The aviation industry learns from every scrape and near-miss publicly.
Driving doesn’t have that. There’s no black box recorder in your Honda Civic. If you make a mistake merging lanes, the lesson dies with you. Morbid? Sure. True? Absolutely.
So when Jenna finally unclenched her fingers after we landed, I asked her if she felt safer. She said, “No, but I feel stupid.” That’s progress, I guess.
