Be honest with yourself. If the Kp-index is below 4, and you live south of the 50th parallel, you’re better off binging a show. But if the numbers align—say, a Kp of 6, high solar wind, and clear skies—then yes, absolutely go!
Wear three layers, bring a thermos of something warm (hot chocolate with a dash of whiskey, perhaps?), and lower your expectations. Even if you don’t see the lights, you’ll have a story about a raccoon. Or, like my friend, you might accidentally see a military drone and convince yourself it was a UFO.
