The mascot isn’t a person in a suit. Well, there is one, but the real mascot is a white horse named Boomer (or Sooner). The rider wears full cowboy regalia and gallops across the field after every touchdown.

The Students Are Actually Nice
Okay, this sounds fake, but it’s true. OU has a reputation for having genuinely friendly students. If you drop your phone, three people will help you pick it up. If you look lost, someone will walk you to the building you need.
It’s the opposite of the "cool, aloof" college vibe. People say “howdy” in the hallways. It’s disarming. It’s the kind of place where the sorority president might also be your physics tutor. Weird? Yes. Wonderful? Also yes.
