Before you take the back photo, you need to sign it. Flip the check over and write your signature in the designated box. Use the same ink you used for everything else—your life isn’t an art project.

Don’t forget: Wells Fargo prefers you add “For Mobile Deposit Only” underneath your signature. This step protects you from someone finding your check and trying to deposit it into their own account. Yikes.
If you skip this, the app might reject your back photo. Then you’ll have to do the whole thing again, and nobody has time for that.
