Sure, mineral water has some minerals. But it’s not a health crisis if you drink RO water instead. It’s more like a branding crisis.
Fancy water companies have convinced us that “natural spring minerals” are basically health elixirs. Newsflash: your body doesn’t absorb water minerals as well as it absorbs food minerals anyway.
So, no, you aren’t going to keel over from “mineral deficiency” just because you installed an RO system. Unless you’re also living on a diet of plain white rice and depression. In which case, please eat a vegetable.

But what about the “dead water” myth?
Oh, this one is my favorite. People say RO water is “dead” because it’s been stripped of everything. But come on—water is H2O. It doesn’t have a soul. It doesn’t have a spiritual energy.
Is it “dead” the way my phone is dead after a long day? No. It’s just clean. And clean water is not a bad thing.
In fact, RO water is phenomenal for people with compromised immune systems or certain health conditions. For them, drinking unfiltered tap water is like playing Russian roulette with bacteria.
But back to the average Joe (or Jane). Are you losing out on anything by drinking RO water? Maybe. But it’s so microscopic that it’s basically irrelevant.
You know what’s a bigger deal? Drinking enough water. Most of us are walking around dehydrated like a raisin in a desert. Focus on that.
