As a rule, if you have short fingers and a short nail bed, modest round or oval nails will create length. It’s all about proportion, too-long nails can actually make short fingers look stubbier by comparison. If you have long nail beds you can get away with a longer manicure shape. If you’re lucky enough to have long, slender fingers the nail bed is your main concern. Squared-off nails look best on narrower nail beds, especially the more extreme styles like ballerina or lipstick.
