Start at one end of the door, usually the side with the hinge. Slide the weatherstripping into the channel at the bottom—it should fit snugly, like a glove, but not so tight you need Hulk strength.
If your kit uses a seal that slides in, tap it gently with a rubber mallet. If it uses adhesive, peel the backing and press firmly. Patience is your friend here.
Step 4: Trim the Excess and Admire Your Work
Once it’s fully inserted, cut off the extra strip at the other end. Make sure it’s flush with the door edge, or you’ll have a funny little tail flapping in the wind.
Now close the door and check for gaps. You should see a tight seal that touches the concrete floor evenly. If it doesn’t, adjust the garage door’s limit stops—but that’s a story for another day.
