I know Mami will miss me. She’s been sharing her feelings with cousins and her sister, along with my sister, her eldest daughter. She’s holding in her emotions from me to protect me. Mami doesn’t want to stop me. And I love her for it. Though I still hear her whispering on the phone to family members, saying how she hopes I change my mind or that I hate Los Angeles, I know it stems from love. I know she will let me go because Mami loves me unconditionally. She loves me enough to set me free.
