In 1977, Teresita became the victim of a gruesome murder. However, on February 21, 1977, at around 9 pm, the fire department was called to put off a fire in her apartment. The investigators found her nude body under a burning mattress with a butcher knife buried in her chest. Investigators believed that the fire was set to remove the evidence of the murder.
Police speculated that Basa was the victim of a sexual crime. The autopsy reports finalized that she was not raped. The motive behind the crime is still unclear.
Investigators could also find little physical evidence, as the fire had destroyed most. However, one piece of evidence found was a memo that stated: "Get Theatre Tickets for A.S."

Where Is Allan Showery Now?
Per Chicago Now, Allan Showery, then 32, pleaded guilty to the murder of Teresita Basa in February 1979. A source revealed that Allan used to work at the hospital.

However, the suspect, Allan was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment for the cold murder of Teresita after pleading guilty. He was released on parole in 1983, as per Unsolved Mysteries Fandom Wiki.
