2. Your childcare doesn’t work out.
Even if you do everything you can to arrange proper childcare, sometimes plans fall through. Daycare facilities fill up, nannies quit, people get sick and sometimes a baby just needs her mother (or father). When something like this happens first take a deep breath. Then call your boss and explain the scenario. Chances are if the choice is between you missing work and not meeting deadlines or you working efficiently but with a baby in tow, your boss will choose the latter.
