Recently there’s been a lot of buzz about Turmeric health benefits, and this bright yellow spice has been used in everything from dinner recipes to juices to medicine. But what exactly is Turmeric, how do you say it, where does it come from, and why do we need it in our regular diet? First of all, this spice is pronounced exactly as it reads: tur-mer-ic. It comes from the root of the Curcuma longa plant, which grows mostly in southern India, which also happens to be the largest producer of this spice. So it makes sense that Turmeric would be used widely in everything from Indian cuisine to ancient Asian medicine.
