MEDICATIONS
Before taking ANY medication, a nursing mother should call her Ob/Gyn. Even Ibuprofen has dosage guidelines for nursing mothers that aren’t listed on the label. Medications are classified L1-L5 for lactation purposes with L5 being contraindicated and L1 being safest.

Everything from acne medications to anti-depressants have options that are safe and others that can be lethal. Before taking anything, consult your obstetrician and/or pediatrician about the safety of baby’s consumption through breast milk.
