Generally speaking, your instinct might be to opt for low-fat cheese, thinking it is better for you. But in reality, most experts argue that full fat cheese is a wiser and healthier choice. And let us all say hallelujah! As per Livestrong, nutrition consultant Mike Roussell argues, “if your goal is to eat as much real food as possible–meaning, foods closer to nature with a shorter ingredient list–choose full-fat cheese. Additionally, low-fat cheese tends to be higher in sodium,” so you’re better off using “a small amount of full-fat cheese to satisfy your craving while cutting back on other forms of saturated fat.”
