What-the-Guat-15-Reasons-to-Visit-Guatemala-This-Year-photo2

1. Volcán Pacaya
If you’re not the type to just sit on a beach or relax with a good book when on vacation, then you’re in for a real treat, as this is one of the coolest things to do in Guatemala. Guatemala is home to Volcán Pacaya, an active volcano that you can actually see up close and personal. But before you slip on your hiking boots, you should know that this is not for the faint of heart. The hike is not easy and can take a full day, maybe more, so allot enough time. The unforgettable views at the finish are well worth the effort.

2. Visit the Santa Catalina Arch.
Once upon a time Antigua was the capital of Guatemala until an earthquake destroyed the city in 1773. While the capital was moved to another (safer) location, Antigua still exists today and boasts beautiful old-world style Spanish architecture, the most famous being the Santa Catalina Arch. The town is beautiful and a big tourist attraction especially during Holy Week, which is the week leading up to Easter.
