10. Hydration
Hydrate for good saliva production. Saliva keeps teeth healthy because its proteins and minerals fight bacteria and prevent tooth and gum decay. Make sure your child stays hydrated during the day. Send a large water bottle to school daily and be extra vigilant on sports days and during warmer temperatures.

11. Grinding
Watch out for grinding. Some kids, like adults, develop a tendency to grind their teeth at night or excessively when they eat. Called bruxation, grinding causes the natural topography of teeth to erode and wears on the enamel making teeth more cavity-prone and sensitive.
