4. When you want to avoid blame.
People (and sadly, typically women) have a nasty habit of apologizing for something when there was no wrongdoing. For example, do you ever offer incessant apologies when it takes you a little longer than planned to submit an assignment for work? Why? Did you miss a deadline? Or are you just trying to apologize so your boss can’t blame you for poor work?  Don’t assume you did something wrong and then say you’re sorry when in reality you have nothing to feel bad about. Above all, be confident in your abilities.
