Spring garden plans may be the last thing on many people’s minds—especially since some of us are still digging out from under the recent deluge of ice and snow. We’ve already sprung forward and March 20 is the official start of spring so use that extra hour of daylight to get some garden planning in! As the Chinese proverb says: “Life begins the day you start a garden.”

There are so many great reasons to plant a garden. It encourages the whole family to spend some time outdoors, communing with nature. It beautifies your yard, it’s great for the environment, it’s a relaxing hobby and it’s a great way to teach your kids about responsibility and nurturing a living thing. AND, if you decide to grow vegetables, you’ll save money while enjoying the fruits (and veggies) of your labor all summer long.
