4. Only check your social media accounts once a day.
You’re more likely to adhere to this rule if you wait until the end of your work day. You may be surprised at how much more productive you are when you aren’t stopping every few minutes to Tweet or update your Facebook status.

5. Trim your Friend list.
How many of your social media contacts do you actually keep up with? Cut your lists down to just the people or companies that are relevant to you now.

6. Block it out.
If you’re having a really hard time sticking to your guns, there’s an app for that. Mac users can install SelfControl and Windows users can install Cold Turkey. Both of these apps are free and allow you to temporarily block out distracting web sites.
