Collectively called silka, beet greens or chardare eaten with an invocation that all enemies will be expelled from the presence of the community
15. Couscous with Seven Vegetables
A Sephardic tradition, couscous is served with vegetables and loaded with meaning. Couscous grains represent a wish for a year with many blessings (as many as the grains in the bowl) and the vegetables are a reminder of the number seven, which represents goodness in the natural order and the number of days God needed to create the world.
