1. The E.U. stance on the death penalty in the U.S. is affecting our access to certain drugs that have been used in lethal injections, but also have medical uses (anesthesia, painkillers).
Whether we like it or not, the United States doesn’t make all of our own drugs. The drugs used during lethal injection are the same ones used for other medical procedures and the countries who provide them to us are becoming more discerning about where their drugs are going and for what they will be used. Since those countries no longer support the death penalty, our country’s access to those necessary substances is being affected.
