Another early Christian tradition suggests that Judas spilled the salt when he got up to tell the Romans where Jesus was. Thus, spilling salt is considered bad luck. The remedy is supposed to be throwing a small pinch of salt over your left shoulder, the shoulder where the devil watches you.
